Zaragoza.- The Government of Spain, at the end of two years of the current legislature, advances in its commitment to Aragon. The Ministry of Finance has announced today to the Autonomous Community that in 2026 it will receive the largest deliveries according to its history: 5,297 million euros, 6.5 million euros more than this year. It should be remembered that, by 2025, the deliveries on account had already reached its historic maximum, with 4,974 million euros. In addition, Aragón has received the proposal for the cancellation of 2,124 million euros of debt.
To this financing must be added the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which in the last year has increased investments in the Autonomous Community by 513 million euros. A total investment of 2,671 million euros has been achieved, between funds executed by the General Administration of the State and transferred to the Aragonese Executive through sectoral conferences.
For Fernando Beltrán, delegate of the Government of Spain in Aragón, “these are strong figures that refute the victimist discourse in which the Autonomous Executive and the municipalities of the capitals have settled, in which they attribute all their management deficiencies to the ministries or even to other autonomous communities”.
Beltrán recalled that much of Aragón’s public services are directly funded by the Spanish Government. For example, in recent weeks, key transfers have been approved in the areas of health (5.6 million for primary care, 1.7 million for mental health and 1.8 million for oral and dental health), education (12.4 million euros in reinforcement programmes and 30 million euros for vocational and worker training), conciliation (7.8 million euros) or the fight against gender violence (8.4 million euros).
In the field of housing, social rental and rehabilitation actions of the Government of Aragon are financed from European funds through the Ministry of Housing, up to almost 50 million euros of investment.
In terms of infrastructure, so far this year the Ministry of Transport has put into service the section of the A-21 motorway between Sigüés and Tiermas, with 70.5 million investment; the false tunnel of the A-68 with the Z-40, with 22.7 million; and the reopening of the Huesca–Canfranc railway section, after an investment of 180 million.
“If Aragon has the greatest funding and the greatest support of the Government of Spain in history for its public services and infrastructure, it is worth asking whether all the problems alleged by the Executive of Jorge Azcón should be attributed to his decisions to allocate the money to issues that have nothing to do with improving the quality of life of the Aragonese and Aragonese,” said the delegate.
Social progress in figures
For Beltrán, “every year of this legislature of the Government of Spain is being a year of progress for Aragón”. This is reflected in the large figures, which place Spain, despite the difficult international situation, as the European economy that grows the most.
In Aragon, this manifests itself in a Social Security affiliation with 642,231 employed in June, more than 12,000 people than the previous year and more than 66,000 than in 2018. For the 211,000 Aragonese retirees, the progress of the legislature has also become evident with the progressive increase in the average pension, which stands at 1,577 euros/month, 63 euros more than last year and 442 euros more than in 2018.
Students have also benefited from Education’s commitment to equal opportunities, with 19,685 scholarships (5,790 university students, 8,757 non-university students and 5,138 with educational support needs). The commitment to Aragon is also with the most vulnerable: 54,557 beneficiaries receive the Minimum Vital Income, of which 35,265 are minors, and 44,243 users are covered by the electric social bond.
