The exhibition, installed coinciding with the patron saint’s festivities of San Isidro, brings together a total of 124 snapshots collected and edited by the Dance Good Ethnographic Group. The photographs show properties and places that have already disappeared under the volcanic flows and constitute an exercise in collective memory to preserve the identity of the affected neighborhoods.
The Commissioner stressed “the importance of preserving the memory of peoples and families,” stressing “the enormous human value of neighborhood initiatives such as this, which help to keep alive the history and roots of those who suffered the consequences of the eruption.” For his part, Marcelino Rodríguez thanked the institutional visit and valued the collaboration of dozens of families who have donated personal photographs to form an exhibition “made from the heart and for future generations.”
