The police forces operating in Navarre recorded a total of 8,006 criminal offences in the first quarter of the year, 7.5% more than those recorded in the same period of 2022, when they were 7,447. In this way, the crime rate of the last twelve months in the Foral Community stands at 51.1 criminal offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, above the national average of 49.8.
They are data of Balance of Criminality published today by the Ministry of the Interior and which reflects the evolution of crime in Spain recorded in the first quarter of 2023 by the State Security Corps (National Police and Civil Guard), the Security Corps dependent on the Autonomous Communities (Ertzaintza, Mossos d'Esquadra and Foral Police of Navarra), and also by those Local Police Corps that provide data to the State Security Forces and Corps.
With regard to the first quarter of 2022, almost all indicators are up. Wilful homicides and attempted murders increased from 3% to 5% (66.7%); and serious and less serious crimes of injuries and tumultuous squabbles increased by 35.6% (from 59% to 80%).
Crimes against sexual freedom increased by 46.7%, from 60 to 88, although sexual assault with penetration decreased by 9.5%, from 21 to 19.
Robberies with violence and intimidation increased by 5.4% (from 92 to 97), the same increase that is recorded in the case of robberies with force in homes, establishments and other facilities, which went from 390 to 411.
Theft rose by 20.9% (from 1,376 to 1,664) and vehicle theft rose by 17.6% (from 34 to 40). The increase is 9.1% in the case of crimes linked to drug trafficking (from 33 to 36).
In the first quarter of the year, no malicious homicides, no consummate murders, and no kidnappings have been recorded. In addition, the rest of conventional crime fell by 4.2%.
With regard to cybercrime, there have been a total of 1,673 crimes, which represents an increase of 27.2% compared to the same period of 2022 (when it was 1,315). Computer scams increase by 31% (from 1,149 to 1,505) and the increase is 1.2% in the case of other cybercrimes (from 166 to 168).
Finally, the rate of arrests and investigations between January and March was 156 for every 1,000 criminal offences. And the percentage of clarified criminal offenses was 34%.
Breakdown by municipality
The Crime Balance shows the breakdown of municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants:
- In the Egüés/Eguesibar Valley, the number of criminal offences has increased by 3.3% (from 182 to 188). The crime rate is 29.4.
- In Pamplona/Iruña, criminal offences increased by 8% (from 3,048 to 3,293). The crime rate is 74.2.
- In Tudela, the increase was 10.1% (from 546 to 601 criminal offences). The crime rate is 66.3.
- In Burlada/Burlata, the number of criminal offences remains unchanged (from 142 to 143), with a crime rate of 33 offences per 1,000 inhabitants
