The budget for the Tandem Experiential Programs will rise to 2.4 million euros in the next year 2026, but in addition, the Provincial Director of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), Jorge Vera, has announced today that they are working to continue increasing this budget and “even reach almost the same value that is currently having, the Autonomous City Employment Plan”.
The head of the SEPE in Melilla, who stressed that the Tandem Experiential Program is “one of the star programs of the SEPE”, with a total investment of 1.5 million euros”, recalled that they combine three initial months of training with a scholarship and a subsequent period of paid hiring with more than 1,700 euros gross monthly.
Vera, in contrast, has shown her concern about the reduction in the number of recruitments in the Employment Plan managed by the Autonomous City, which has gone from more than 400 people to little more than 200. “Very few users can take advantage of this employment plan, which is supposed to be of general and social interest, and it falls quite short,” he lamented.
Therefore, he has opted for the Tandem experiential program, which “is version 3.0 of the Employment Plan, which is being given right now, and can reach more people, even with those same amounts”.
Delivery of diplomas
The Provincial Director of the SEPE participated this morning in the closing ceremony of the TANDEM experiential program, in which the diplomas were given to the 24 participants who have completed this 12-month training.
Vera has recalled that these programs, inherited from the former workshop schools and aimed at children under 30 years of age, combine training with a scholarship and a subsequent period of paid recruitment and that the students, in addition, receive a certificate of professionalism.
The program that now ends began on December 30, 2024 and ends on December 29, 2025, with an investment of about 650,000 euros. In this edition, two workshops linked to the recovery of artistic and cultural heritage have been developed: Artistic Carving in Wood, with nine students, and Cutting, Clothing, Textile and Leather Arrangements, with 15 participants.
Regarding the labor insertion of those who complete the current workshops, Vera has recognized that it is “more complicated” because for years the same heritage formations have been repeated, with a single adjudicator: the Autonomous City. “It has already hit rock bottom,” he said, noting that continuing to train year after year on the same profiles “does not dynamize the market.”
For this reason, it has advanced that in the next programs, projects more connected with the real needs of the labor market will be prioritized, especially in areas such as computer science and artificial intelligence, not limited to wealth recovery.
Registrations open until December 16th
Vera has also reported that the form for interested parties to register voluntarily in the workshops approved for the call for 2025 is already available on the SEPE website.
The form, published on December 4, will remain open until December 16. The selection will be made in accordance with the Employment Law and depending on the requirements of access to levels 1, 2 or 3 of certificate of professionalism.
