The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, and the Provincial Director of Education, Elena Fernández Treviño, attended this morning the traditional musical exhibition and the exhibition of instruments made with recycled materials by the students of 1st ESO of the IES Leopoldo Queipo, an activity that the center organizes every year on the occasion of the festivity of Santa Cecilia, patron saint of music.
The event began with a brief musical interpretation in which the students offered two pieces: California, with sweet flute, and Offenbach’s Cancan, performed with body percussion. Next, both institutional leaders have been able to learn about the exhibition of instruments made by students using recycled materials such as boxes, bottles or cardboard, as well as the Playmobil exhibition, which this year recreates a journey through the history of music from the Baroque to the 20th century.
The Government Delegate has valued the work of the Music Department and the commitment of the students, highlighting “the effort, creativity and the different methodologies that are applied to bring music to students”. Moh thanked the center for “such beautiful and interesting initiatives, which promote collaboration, manual skills and concentration, and which show the enormous involvement of teachers.”
