The Center for Orientation, Entrepreneurship, Accompaniment and Innovation for Employment of Melilla (COE) of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) is currently holding a conference to disseminate the work they carry out in the field of accompaniment and training for employment in our city.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, who participated together with the Provincial Director of the SEPE, Jorge Vera, in the opening of these Days that are taking place at the Melilla Puerto Hotel, has stressed the relevance that active employment policies have for the Government of Spain, “especially in a territory such as ours”, recalling that since the beginning of the legislature one of the main objectives has been to progressively reduce unemployment.
The highest representative of the Government of the Nation in our city has pointed out that, to achieve this, “training and also orientation are necessary”, highlighting the coordinated work between the Provincial Directorate of Education and its commitment to Professional Training adapted to the real needs of Melilla and the SEPE to offer adequate responses to the needs of the labor market in Melilla. “All this in order to generate a positive impact and benefits for Melillense citizens,” he said.
Moh has valued the work carried out by the COE and has expressed its appreciation to the professionals who work in it. “It was one of the issues that we had detected, the lack of orientation and those personalized itineraries that citizens need, who often do not know where the employment fields or the demands of the business sector are,” he said. In this sense, he has affirmed that days like this are important and necessary to continue moving forward.
He also highlighted the practical part of the meeting, focused on exposing good practices and success stories in the field of employment, which will serve as an example to continue implementing and promoting effective policies.
€40 million and 2,600 fewer unemployed
The Government Delegate recalled that during this year 2025 more than 40 million euros will be invested by the State in Melilla in active employment policies, an investment that “is already having results”. In fact, he referred to the almost 2,500 fewer unemployed people in our city today than when he came to the government.
Moh has stressed that these advances are the result of the joint effort and commitment to training and personalized guidance, with the aim of “avoiding the loss of local talent” and adjusting the preparation of workers to the real needs of the city. “We have had to import workers and yet we have exported talent. If we guide it and train around the needs here, we can continue to alleviate unemployment,” he said.
Finally, the Government Delegate expressed her gratitude to the SEPE and all the people who collaborate with the Government of Spain in the implementation of these days and in the development of active employment policies “so necessary to continue improving job opportunities in Melilla”.
Responding to the needs of Melilla
Jorge Vera, for his part, explained that these days involve “the dissemination of active employment policies”, and allow to carry out “an assessment of the public investment of the State put at the service of citizens in the city of Melilla”.
In this regard, he stressed that the active policy programs “respond to the needs of training and employment in the city” and that they represent “the way of landing the policies of the State to the needs of Melilla”.
During the day, the work carried out by the COE, responsible for the organization of the meeting, will be addressed, explaining how the personalized work orientation given to job seekers is developed, as well as the creation of individualized training itineraries, according to the actions foreseen in Royal Decree 438, of the Common Portfolio of Services, included in the Employment Law.
Likewise, the Provincial Director has pointed out that these actions are aimed especially “at the priority and vulnerable groups of the city, so that they have a job opportunity”.
After the breakfast break, the programme includes the presentation of success stories of entities that have participated in active employment policy programmes, which have met their objectives, and the award of recognition diplomas to good practices.
Vera, in statements to the media, has shown her desire for attendees to enjoy the day and has positively valued the work that is developed from the COE in benefit of employability in Melilla.
