The new Employment Plan, which once again has an investment of 13 million euros and which will allow the hiring of about a thousand people, increases the number of occupations from 37 to more than 50.
This was announced by the Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh, in statements to Televisión Melilla, in which she explained that profiles with a higher degree will be included, such as speech therapists, physiotherapists, teachers, social integrators, workers or social educators. “Last year we could not count on them and this year we did incorporate them,” he said.
The head of the Government Delegation has reported that work is currently being done to compile the professional profiles that are going to be necessary to respond to the needs of the different agencies, and that they have a deadline of 15 August to submit all this documentation.
Moh also explained that the additions will start before the end of the year and will be valid during the year 2026, adapting to the needs of the projects, especially in the educational field. “We are seeing how some occupations in the area of Education would be interesting to incorporate them in the month of January, when the second quarter begins,” he said.
Employability, professionalization and economy
The Delegate explained that the Employment Plan is structured on three main axes. The first of these is the promotion of employability: “It is a tool that we provide from the Government of Spain to improve the employability of a significant number of Melillense people and that they can acquire that experience that is then necessary to join the labor market.”
The second pillar is the professionalization of the Plan, with the integration of profiles related to Professional Training that is taught in Melilla. “Since we came to the Government we have incorporated 29 training cycles and the one that these people who are trained here will be able to have an opportunity within the Employment Plan,” he argued. Thus, Moh has cited by way of example communicative mediators, social integrators, sports technicians, computer or administrative technicians. “An important part of the Vocational Training that is taking place here in Melilla is going to have coverage,” he said.
The third axis, equally important, is the impact on the local economy. The Delegate recalled that the 13 million of this Plan is added to another 13 million of the previous Plan of the Delegation itself and to the 5 million of the City Employment Plan, which adds a total of 31 million euros of direct investment in Melilla. “They go directly to payrolls and salaries that are invested in the city, which also contributes to dynamizing the local economy,” he said.
Moh has also insisted on the social component of the Employment Plan, which must give priority to the most vulnerable groups. “Women have a higher unemployment rate and the Plan has to cover at least 50% of women,” she said. Priority will also be given to young people, people with disabilities and women victims of gender violence, among other groups.
