The new sheet for the maritime contract establishes a maximum price of 40 euros per trip for vehicles, compared to 122 euros of the last sheet prepared by the Government of Mariano Rajoy.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, in an interview in Television Melilla, has addressed the improvements that this new sheet represents with respect to the previous one. A document has stressed that, in fact, it already meant many improvements with respect to the last maritime contract of the PP Executive that was in force until 2019.
“With the contract that is currently in force, we already improved the maximum rate for vehicles since we went from 122 euros per trip of the PP Government contract to 60 euros, but, in addition, under the conditions of this new sheet, we talk about 40 euros per trip,” he said. “This is a measure designed so that Melillenses can continue traveling at more affordable prices,” he said.
Newest boats
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has also made reference to other improvements that have been implemented such as quality in service, quality in ships or seniority. “While the PP sheet for 2019 spoke of ships up to 15 years old, we have reduced that period to 10 years,” he said.
In fact, in the document, it grants for the baremation up to 10 points for the age of the boats, being the maximum of points, that is to say 10 points, for the ships of five years, and the points gradually go down until they reach the ships of ten years.
Moh, who has referred to improvements that have been implemented such as the fact that there is a doctor on board, private security, pet space, space of silence, care and activities for children or free wifi.
“The Government of Spain is making an unprecedented effort and commitment in terms of transport”, he has made it clear and stressed that the contract, which will enter into force in January 2025, and which has an initial duration of two years, extendable by another two, is endowed with 79 million euros.
“It has been working on a sheet designed by and for the people of Melilla”, he said, while pointing out that, “in parallel, it can be used by people who want to travel to this city and promote tourism, with something I think we all agree on, such as affordable prices and good services with more and better connections”.
Two lots
In her speech in the television interview, the head of the Government Delegation referred to the fact that this new sheet has two lots. Something that also happens in the current contract.
“To the People’s Party, who tore his clothes talking about two lots, we must remind him of the PP Government’s specifications, from 2017 to 2019, a contract that was in force when I arrived at the Government Delegation where a lot and two destinations are collected, Malaga and Almería,” he said.
Moh recalled that the first government that introduced two lots in the maritime contract was the government led by Pedro Sánchez and that now “we are again including two lots and, in addition, a third route that is Motril, shielded through a public service obligation”.
Finally, the Government Delegate has taken advantage of the televised interview to call on the Port Authority and ask it to “keep an eye on the situation” and that “the port taxes adapt to the needs and reality we have in Melilla so that the citizens do not see the increased prices”.
