The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has provisionally approved two projects to mitigate noise on the A-6 motorway as it passes through Madrid with the installation of sound correction systems along a kilometre, between 12,600 and 13,600 kilometres. The projects will be submitted to the public information process, which involves the publication of the corresponding announcement in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The works will be executed in two sections, the first between km 12,600 and 13 and the second between that point and 13,600. The objective is to ensure acceptable noise levels in the buildings located in the indicated section, in accordance with the maximum levels contemplated in Royal Decree 1367/2007 of 19 October.
First subsection (km 12,600 to 13)
This subsection currently presents corrective measures through acoustic screens of between 2 and 2.5 meters of average height, coinciding with the locations of buildings with nearby residential use.
For the improvement of the sound situation, it has been proposed to increase the length of sound insulation at the beginning of the section and the modification of some currently existing screen paths.
To improve their aesthetic performance, the screens will be equipped with an anti-graffiti treatment from the factory.
Second subsection (km 13 to 13,600)
In this subsection there are now acoustic screens that need to be replaced in some tours and incorporate additional ones in others to improve the existing sound levels.
The project proposes the implementation of a total length of 358 m of screens of variable height between 4 and 8 m, depending on the stretch in question. The material proposed for the screens is absorbent concrete and methacrylate, except in one of the routes where conventional concrete is proposed.
