“The City Council of Val do Dubra is an example of good management, with initiatives that offer real support to families and safe and educational spaces for parenting,” said María Rivas.
The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited this morning together with the mayor of Val do Dubra, Diego Díaz, the summer camp that is being developed in the facilities of the CPI of Bembibre, with the support of the Co-responsible Plan of the Ministry of Equality.
During the visit, Rivas highlighted the "firm commitment of the Government of Spain to equality and conciliation", which in this city translates into an investment of 55,000 euros to facilitate the care of children and support families.
The camp hosts some 150 boys and girls throughout the summer, with a flexible schedule from 7:30 to 16:00 hours, which allows families to adapt their working day without giving up a quality service. The activities have a strong playful and educational component, promoting coexistence, autonomy and values such as equality and respect.
In addition to the camp, the City Council also uses the funds of the Co-responsible Plan to reinforce the Infant School from 0 to 3 years and to keep active the Early Bird Plan in the CPI centers of Bembibre and CEIP Xacinto Amigo Lera, benefiting a total of 30 children.
The Co-responsible Plan, funded by the Ministry of Equality through the Secretary of State for Equality and against Gender Violence, allocated 2,146,532.77 euros this year to 63 municipalities in the province of A Coruña. In total, the Autonomous Community receives 6,466,334.82 euros, through funds transferred to the Xunta de Galicia.
This Plan aims to guarantee the universal right to care and conciliation, regardless of the work or personal situation of the families. In addition, it also contributes to dignify and professionalize care, promoting employment and recognizing non-formal experience in this field, which has a positive impact on the quality of the services provided to children.
Therefore, the subdelegate stressed “we want to value the efforts of municipalities such as Val do Dubra, which are using the funds with responsibility, vision and social commitment”, adding that “it is not only a question of facilitating conciliation, but of guaranteeing the right to care and moving towards a more egalitarian and co-responsible society”.
The Co-responsible Plan, which this year distributed more than 142.5 million euros to the Communities and Autonomous Cities, is the responsibility of the Secretary of State for Equality and for the Eradication of Violence against Women, and is based on a solid legal and political framework: Article 44 of Organic Law 3/2007 on effective equality between women and men, Article 24 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, the recommendations of the European Care Strategy (2022) and an approach to guarantee universal rights, regardless of the employment situation of the beneficiaries.
