The Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, called on Thursday a minute of silence in front of the headquarters of the Subdelegation, in sign of rejection and pain for the latest machista murders registered in our country.
In just a week, Zunilda Raquel (43 years old) was murdered in Fuengirola, Maritza (61 years old) in Getafe and Alejandra (42 years old) with her son Samuel (2 years old) in Algemesí. With these crimes, 17 women were murdered in the year 2025, and 11 minor creatures were orphaned due to male violence.
During the event, María Rivas showed her indignation and regret, transferring her support and affection to the families and environments of the victims. “Each of these deaths is a collective failure. And we have a duty not to remain silent any longer. The whole society must rise up against this barbarity,” he said.
The deputy delegate recalled that since 2003 1,311 women in Spain were killed for gender violence and since 2013, 65 boys and girls were killed for gender violence against their mother. The number of children orphaned for this reason now amounts to 480 minors.
The Government Subdelegation stresses the importance of using available resources:
• 016, 24-hour call center.
• 112, emergency services.
• 091 (National Police), 062 (Civil Guard) and AlertCops application.
These means can be used by the victim or by anyone who detects or suspects a situation of violence.
“The responsibility is everyone’s. We cannot allow more deaths, more fear, more silence,” Rivas concluded.
