Pontevedra, May 19, 2025.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, closed today the day Economic Violence against Women, taught by the delegate of the State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT), Daniel Gómez Aragón, in which the different aspects of this worrying phenomenon, which is part of the legal concept of gender violence, were analyzed. The day was attended by a center of professionals and representatives of groups related to the care of women arrived from all over the province.
Abel Losada warned that gender violence has many faces and all of them must be unmasked. “The economy, the control of money, is one of them and is expressed in many ways, from the way of filing the income tax return, to the duty to sign company papers or the control of digital identification systems.” “The important thing is that we recognize the face of this type of violence and, once detected, act soon,” said Losada. The subdelegate added that although the reduction of the wage gap and the incorporation of women into the world of work is a clear measure of empowerment “and we are better than when women had to ask permission from the husband to open a bank account, we cannot lower our arms; we have to be alert”.
Gómez Aragón explained that economic violence is incorporated into the definition of Organic Law 1/2004 on Comprehensive Protection Measures against Gender Violence and involves the financial control of the victims by the aggressors. Therefore, it is on the side of physical, sexual, vicarious, civic, verbal, social or environmental violence. In this sense, he said that two weeks ago the violet points of the headquarters of the Tax Agency in Pontevedra and Vigo were put into operation. They are staffed with specific permanent staff and have a discreet physical space to ensure confidentiality.
In the midst of the campaign for the presentation of the Declaration of Income delegate of the AEAT warned of the risks associated with the income tax, including those arising from the presentation of the joint declaration. It was abundant that the result is to return only the main declarant receives the income. In contrast, if the result is to be entered and the entry is not made, a shared debt is generated. The joint declaration may also mean the loss of the right to some deductions. Also in the case of joint presentation without a matrimonial bond, there may be circumstances that harm women. In contrast, individual taxation eliminates financial risks, preserves individual deductions and enables the mechanism of suspension between spouses. He also warned that marital property responds directly to the public treasury and explained the differences in the case of legal separation and de facto separation.
Gómez Aragón also analyzed the risks linked to collection for women in the case of being appointed as administrator of companies of their partner. He spoke of the specific situations relating to companies without activity, with infringements or incursions in cases of concealment of assets. He made clear the difference between the figure of the law administrator and the de facto administrator, as well as the subsidiary and solidarity responsibilities for debts or defaults in companies.
He also warned about the risks linked to e-government due to the misuse or consent of digital identification systems such as electronic ID, Cl@ve, National Currency and Stamp Factory Certificate, the reference number (RENO) in the Income campaign or through the legal institution of electronic empowerment.
The Open Administration Week will conclude next Monday with an open day in the Subdelegation to bring the action of the Government of the State to a group of Primary students of the Froébel School within the context of the Spanish “territorial administrative map”. In addition, the day will be complemented by training in cybersecurity by the National Police.
