The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, participated today in the ceremony of delivery of the ANFACO Medals in Vigo, where he highlighted the strategic role of the canning sector and the sea as one of the economic engines and partners of Galicia and as a fundamental axis of the innovative future of a Galician industry plenty of opportunities. Blanco highlighted the involvement of companies and professionals who, with their daily work, make possible a “competitive and proud of its roots” industry.
“The Government of Spain firmly believes in this sector and is demonstrating its commitment to facts and resources,” said the delegate, who highlighted the constant support of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez through public policies aimed at digitization, sustainability or improving the energy efficiency of the marine industry.
Pedro Blanco especially highlighted the work of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, who “under his leadership is working as never before to accompany the Galician canning and aquaculture sector in this transformation process”. In this regard, he pointed out that the Government considers the sea-industry a strategic priority and that support for the sector is “real, ambitious and transformative”, with a direct impact on the generation of employment and quality wealth.
The government delegate referred to the PERTE Mar-Industry as “a fundamental tool” to guarantee the future of the sector. He stressed that in its provisional resolution 27 projects were already approved, several of them directly linked to ANFACO, and said that “the final resolution is close and will bring good news for Galicia”. Pedro Blanco stressed that this PERTE was born from a fair demand of the sector and the personal commitment of Minister Planas, with an unprecedented volume of investment that will allow a qualitative leap in technological innovation and competitiveness.
During his speech, he also referred to the recent transfer of powers from the coast to the Xunta de Galicia, approved this week by the Council of Ministers. Addressing the president of the Xunta, he highlighted this milestone as “a clear example of institutional cooperation and mature dialogue between administrations.” Blanco expressed his hope that this spirit of collaboration will continue and allow us to move towards an efficient and coordinated management of marine resources.
Finally, the government delegate thanked the work of ANFACO, especially its president, Iván Alonso, “whose vision and commitment are being key to the present and future of the Galician canning industry”, and congratulated the people and entities awarded in this event, with particular mention to the recognition granted to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food “for contributing with its daily work to the growth of a prosperous Galicia with a future”.
