"The Government's deputy delegate in Ourense, Eladio Santos, attended this Friday the start of the humanization works of the first section of Avenida de Portugal in Ourense, intervention included in the series of actions subsidized by the aid program of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. There, Santos highlighted "the investment effort" of the Government of Spain to make Ourense "a more friendly city for people".
During his speech, the subdelegate counted the funds invested by the central executive in Ourense in the program of aid to municipalities for low-emission areas by more than 4.2 million euros. In particular, five grants were granted: humanization of Calle Alejandro Pedrosa and Avenida de Portugal (2,217,866.71 euros), the establishment of a Low Emissions Zone (ZBE) (738,867.65 euros), the parking deterrent in the Coto de Canedo Park (549,727.64 euros), vertical mobility to bridge differences in level between different points of the city (426,302.20 euros) and the implementation of a Public Electric Bicycle System in Ourense (279,286.91 euros).
In this regard, Eladio Santos stressed that "the Government of Spain is clear that it must invest when there is an important project for the improvement of mobility in the city of Ourense". Therefore, it always supports "major projects", such as the train station, the arrival of high speed, the improvement of road communications, investments in the Archaeological Museum and in the San Francisco station.
However, the subdelegate said that he expects less real investments from the Xunta de Galicia in the city, "transformative investments such as those being made by the Government of Spain." In addition, he thanked the mayor of Ourense, Gonzalo Pérez Jácome, for the invitation to the act of a cofinanced action, "something that should be the usual and that does not happen with the Xunta, which hides the origin of government funds and does not invite government representatives to the calls." "I regret that the Galician Executive is unaware of institutional loyalty," he concluded.
