The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, celebrated today the two calls that the Xunta de Galicia opens with funds from the State Pact against Gender Violence and that mobilize 3.2 million euros transferred by the Government of Spain. Pedro Blanco put the two calls published today by the DOG as an example of institutional collaboration, which is “the way to tackle gender violence and protect women victims of this reality in the Autonomous Community”.
The delegate positively valued the publication of these calls, from which local entities in Galicia can benefit. These lines aim to promote the hiring of women victims of male violence and improve the facilities and equipment of the Women's Information Center located in the municipalities and communities of Galicia.
Since 2018, the Government of Spain has allocated about 84 million euros to Galicia to finance actions to prevent and combat male violence. The delegate pointed out that the budget of this aid is part of the 11 million euros the Government, through the Ministry of Equality, allocated last year to Galicia for the fight against gender violence, within the framework of the State Pact. The transfer was agreed by the Ministry of Equality and the autonomous communities at the first meeting of the Sectoral Conference on Equality of the legislature.
Through this agreement, the Autonomous Community received 11 million euros, which, added to those transferred since the arrival in the Government of Pedro Sánchez, exceed 61 million euros for regional policies derived from the State Pact against Gender Violence. With these funds, “we move forward together in providing a comprehensive, effective and coordinated response from all institutions with competence in this field, maintaining and improving the resources, benefits and services of protection, assistance, support, recovery and reparation for victims of violence against women, among other actions.”
The government delegate stressed that it was the government of Pedro Sánchez that assumed the economic commitment to guarantee the stability and permanence of public policies and services derived from the State Pact against Gender Violence. In this way, “we underpin the public policies of equality throughout the territory and guarantee a minimum of rights to all the women of our country, live in the autonomous community that they live,” he added.
