The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, stressed the “strengthened commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to consolidate the Galician naval sector as a European reference in sustainable shipbuilding”. The delegate celebrated in Moaña the 50 years of the Rodman Polyships shipyard, highlighting the “historical doses of economic support of the Government for this industry”, which are channeled, in particular, through the PERTE Naval, a plan designed to support the modernization of the shipyards and promote their competitiveness at a global level.
Thus, he recalled that within the framework of the Government’s Recovery Plan more than 1.4 billion euros will be mobilized between public and private investment for the naval sector throughout Spain, of which a significant part will remain in Galicia. “We have an example in the province of Pontevedra,” he said, “where new PERTE grants were granted a few months ago that benefited 8 companies and in 2025 we will resolve the second call with new contributions for Galicia.”
Pedro Blanco insisted on the Government’s determined commitment to ensure the continuity of a sector that “is synonymous with the future for this land” and appealed to continue betting on innovation, digitalization and sustainability in an industry that generates thousands of jobs, consolidates the business fabric and strengthens the historical link of our land with the sea.
The delegate commemorated “half a century of excellence, innovation and leadership on the part of Rodman Polyships”, stating that “the naval sector could not be understood in Galicia and, especially, in Vigo, without this company and without the figure of its president, Manuel Rodríguez, at the head of the company since its foundation”. “Your trajectory is a clear example of how a committed business vision can generate employment, wealth and prestige for a community and for a country,” he said, stressing that Rodman represents the innovative spirit that Galicia needs to continue growing as an industrial power.”
The delegate ended his speech on the anniversary with a gratitude to all the people who made the company’s trajectory possible, “from its founders to the current workers” and expressed “the best wishes for the next 50 years, with the sea always as your horizon”.
