The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited this morning the town hall of Dumbría, where she was received in the town hall by its mayor Raúl González.
During the visit to the city council, the subdelegate highlighted the Government’s commitment with measures to support renting and access to housing for young people and exemplified this support in the 11.4 million euros of the second call for the Young Rent Bonus, approved just two weeks ago by the Council of Ministers.
María Rivas stressed that with this contribution, the Government shows its firm commitment to housing policies and support for young people, one of the objectives of these measures being to reverse “the lowest emancipation rate in history in Galicia”.
During the institutional visit to the City of Dumbría, the subdelegate highlighted this agreement of the Council of Ministers, which raises up to 34.2 million euros in the amount that the Government allocates to Galicia to develop the Young Rent Bonus, “economic transfers in housing that are unprecedented”, she insisted.
The subdelegate recalled that the rental aid for boys and girls was designed and implemented by the Government of Pedro Sánchez and is part “of a wide set of measures implemented to turn housing into a real right and not a problem.” A measure of special relevance for Galician youth since “two out of every three people under the age of 35 still live with their parents”.
With respect to the new call for this aid, the subdelegate called on the regional executive to supplement with its own funds the Government’s contributions to tackle this social emergency. María Rivas was convinced that the “Xunta will be consistent with its permanent messages of commitment to housing and will complete these funds.” In this regard, the subdelegate hopes that they will act like other communities that are committed to completing this program with their own funds, so that all the boys and girls of Galicia who are entitled to this aid can access it.
María Rivas stressed that “housing is a State policy” and consequently, it is accompanied by a budget that has no precedent in history and that requires the involvement of the autonomous communities to reach citizenship. “Our commitment is clear: we allocate more resources than ever to guarantee access to decent and affordable housing,” insisted the deputy delegate. In this line, he asked the Xunta for loyalty in the execution of these transfers because it is these state funds that make it possible to materialize the announcements that the Galician Government is making in this matter.
The deputy delegate and more the mayor of Dubría, Raúl González, agreed on the need to consolidate housing as the fifth pillar of the Welfare State with public policies that help fix population in small municipalities.
During the visit, they agreed to highlight the Government’s commitment to municipalities, especially rural municipalities, by promoting policies that not only serve to attract new inhabitants, but also help to establish a population and improve its economic dynamism.
For this reason the Government invested 800,000 euros in the change of luminaires of the city council with support of the IDAE, seeking sustainability but also energy savings, since it will mean a reduction of almost 60% in consumption. But also “we bet on broadband implementation projects, connectivity, so necessary with 225 projects developed during the three calls of the SINGLE BROADBAND PLAN and 702 companies and connected homes” said the subdelegate.
