The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, celebrated the announcement of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, who said that next week the government will approve the decree of bases for aid aimed at alleviating the damages produced by the bovine hemorrhagic disease (BSE), which will be managed by the autonomous communities.
The aid, of EUR 15 million to be distributed between the territories, can be supplemented by regional subsidies or be used for the financing of vaccines, the disintegration of livestock facilities and preventive treatments. In this regard, the delegate urged the Xunta to supplement this allocation with its own funds and assume its responsibility.
On the other hand, the delegate highlighted the step forward that this measure represents to stop the advance of the disease, which is causing so much damage to Galician farms, and highlighted the effort made in research to have in such a short time a vaccine in Spain for this ailment.
For Pedro Blanco “this is another example of the Government’s commitment to animal health and welfare”, a commitment that is extended to the entire primary sector “with more than 187 million euros in direct aid to alleviate the increases in costs derived from extraordinary situations”, but also with other actions such as the simplification of the CAP, the reinforcement in the application of the law of the chain or the aid of the Recovery Plan, which already benefits 42,000 entities in Galicia, half small and medium enterprises, and which leave more than 54 million euros through the PERTE Agro for projects in which the Galician companies participate, highlighted.
