The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, said today that the consolidation of the External Port of A Coruña is the result of “political commitment, institutional loyalty and business complicity”. He affirmed this at the commemoration of the 20 million tons of goods moved in the Punta Langosteira basin. After highlighting the work of all the administrations in these 20 years, he said that this commemoration certifies that Langosteira is one of the main logistics centers in northern Spain and “confirms that we were right when we said that the Port Exterior was obligated we wanted to promote the economic activity of the metropolitan area”.
Pedro Blanco extended this recognition to the companies that bet and bet on the Punta Langosteira basin to boost their businesses, and without which Porto “would not make sense”. He pointed out that the results of this dock are a reflection of the “joint work of the administrations with the companies” and thanked the “business courage” in the commitment of entrepreneurs for this logistic area for their businesses. To them he reiterated the support of the Government to continue working for the progress and well-being of Galicia, and that is manifested, for example, in the Government Recovery Plan, “from which 25,000 companies in Galicia already benefit”.
700 million investments
The delegate pointed out that the Government’s commitment to ports of general interest rose in recent years to 700 million euros in investments, “to guarantee their competitiveness and advance their modernization and environmental sustainability.”
“The port of A Coruña is an example of this commitment,” he said, recalling the milestone that will result from the completion of the railway link, which is already executed by the ADIF with an investment of more than 150 million euros, and the next execution of the internal railway network. He said that these investments will serve to “give a boost to the Atlantic Axis and also to the competitiveness of rail freight transport.”
To this commitment to infrastructure, Pedro Blanco added the impulse to investments in renewable energies such as offshore wind and green hydrogen, “in response to the demands of our economy and our entrepreneurship.” As a reflection of this support, the Port Authority of A Coruña is ranked as the seventh recipient of funds of the Government Recovery Plan, second the list published last week by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
