The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, gave today to the mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, the keys to the Casa do Mar de Camelle. With this symbolic act, the agreement was ratified by the Ministry of Inclusion to cede this property owned by the Social Security to the Council. The cession will be extended for 20 years, during which time the Concello will be able to allocate these 443 square meters to different activities, with the proviso that they are for public use. The provincial director of the Social Security Treasury, Miguel Planas, also participated in the event, who provided the definitive documentation that initiates the assignment.
The government delegate framed this transfer in the commitment of permanent collaboration of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with local governments and with the improvement of public services that they provide to citizens. In this case, it is manifested in the reform of the regulation that regulates the Social Security heritage approved last January. The amendment, already in force, simplifies and facilitates collaboration between Social Security and other administrations, allowing the use of properties that are not being used to ascribe them for public utility purposes. The government delegate stressed that, in the case of Camariñas, the cession was possible in six months when before this process lasted for years and many times the municipalities abandoned their requests due to the numerous obstacles and bureaucratic impediments imposed by the 1992 rule.
Pedro Blanco said that Camariñas, together with Santiago, are the first two Galician concellos to benefit from the new procedure. In the case of Santiago, there were two buildings to set up a sociocultural center and a public management day center.

Pedro Blanco recalled that there are numerous empty properties owned by the State that are the object of interest by other administrations, especially the concellos, and pointed out with this change “we make it possible that what belongs to everyone can be enjoyed by everyone and that those administrations that want to value this type of property can do it for the benefit of the population.”
In addition, the new regulation establishes for the first time the possibility of ceding the use of these properties to other public purposes through non-governmental organizations, associations or other entities that want and can take charge of these goods to give a service to the citizens.
