The Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to tourism and territorial cohesion in Galicia, which in O Grove translates into 3.5 million euros of investment between the two state projects to transform tourism of which it is part. On the one hand, the program ‘Sanxenxo-O Grove for intelligent tourists’, had 1.4 million investment, while the Tourism Sustainability Plan of the Mancomunidad do Salnés, in which O Grove participates, has another 2.11 million.
Since 2020 the Government promoted 34 Tourist Sustainability Plans in Destination and various cohesion actions between destinations in Galicia with an investment of 85.7 million. The Government of Pedro Sánchez is committed to the modernization and transformation of tourism in Galicia, with 200 million euros of global investment from 2020 to this year 2023.
Pedro Blanco participated in the LX Festa do Marisco and during the tour of the shellfish and fish sales stalls, which he carried out with the mayor, José Cacabelos, showed the support of the Government so that the event is declared of International Tourist Interest. “This festival has all the necessary ingredients for this distinction and with all the support of the Government to continue growing as a great showcase of the Ría de Arousa and its main economic pillars: tourism and the fishing sector,” he said.
In this line, he explained that “the Concello has been working hard for some time on the elaboration of a broad and competitive dossier”, so he was convinced that “the edition of the year 2024 will be inaugurated with this recognition”.
For the government delegate, the Festa do Marisco “constitutes a tourist product in itself, which is the clear example of the seasonalization of the sector in a municipality that shows that it is much more than sun and beach”. Thus, he highlighted that “tourism and fishing go hand in hand in this event, which also shows that the Ría de Arousa is one of the most productive in Galicia”.
