The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, took advantage of his participation this Wednesday in the 50th anniversary events of the company Hermasa to encourage Galician companies to take advantage of the funds of the Government Recovery Plan to advance in the application of new technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
“Only the decarbonization PERTE represents an investment of 3.1 billion euros to finance actions aimed at energy efficiency, so important in the sector,” said Pedro Blanco, who also recalled that in recent days the Government launched a line of 75 million euros to promote the digital transformation of companies, or the support program for industrial entrepreneurship, with a budget of 98 million euros.
The delegate put these investments as an example that the Government of Spain “is the best ally of Galician companies”, a line in which it will follow the hand of firms such as Hermasa, specialized in the construction of machinery for the fish canning industry, “which is not afraid of Artificial Intelligence”.
During her speech, in which she praised the “amazing capacity” of the company to advance knowledge, she highlighted the work of her directive and, especially, of its president, Sara Rodríguez, who has been leading the world in technologies of the canning sector since the age of 21.
To this respect, Pedro Blanco acknowledged the example given by the founders of Hermasa in ceding the company’s command to the current president. This government shares the commitment to equality in all areas, including the company. However, as the delegate pointed out, “we are still far from 50%, since studies tell us that women only represent 38% of management positions in Spain and 36% in Galicia. It’s time to continue working, but we are on the right track,” he said.
Commitment to innovation
Pedro Blanco insisted that Hermasa is demonstrating the importance of exploring, knowing and analyzing data to improve. Proof of this is its Smart Tunipack machine, capable of manufacturing 500 cans per minute and whose development was financially supported by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. “We talk about one of the 70 brands and patents that Hermasa introduced in so many other countries on five continents”, in a process of intenationalization in which the Viguesa company also had the support of the Government of Spain through the Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX).
On this path, he said, “the Government of Spain will be at your side, as it has been until now: collaborating and supporting to promote economic and business growth, yours and that of Galicia”, concluded the delegate.
