The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated in the act of celebration of the World Day of Refugees organized by the NGO Entrecultura, in which they made visible the problems encountered by refugees once they arrived in our country.
During her speech, María Rivas stressed that one of the most important objectives of sustainable development is to ensure “inclusive, equitable and quality education for all” and that to achieve this, society and administrations must “advance hand in hand”.
The subdelegate pointed out that one of the priorities to achieve a fair and committed society is the right to education for refugee girls and boys who are in a situation of “extreme social and emotional vulnerability,” and that Government and society have a “moral obligation not only to welcome them but also to protect them.”
At the event, they carried out different activities aimed at raising awareness about the reception processes that refugees live when they arrive in our country, including an information table and a photocall, open to all the public. They also held a yincana for schools that are part of the Youth Solidarity Network, a youth program of the NGO.
