The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, attended today in Lugo the cinological exhibition that the professionals of the Field of Maneuvers and Shooting (CMT) of Parga performed to more than 600 students and teachers of schools in the capital of Lucense. During the canine demonstrations, Isabel Rodríguez, accompanied by the acting councilor of Lugo, Paula Alvarellos; and the lieutenant colonel of the CMT, José Antonio Roldán; highlighted the work of the dogs in the service of the Army, “always in the service of the citizens and society, being fundamental to save lives or protect relevant goods within the framework of the actions carried out during the operations in which they participate.”
The event, which took place in the facilities of the Diocesan College Sano Lorenzo, also included the participation of students from the CEIP Paradai and CPR Plurilingual Lana Milagrosa, who witnessed and interacted in the different dynamic exercises and simulations carried out by 7 dogs, with their respective canine guides. These teams come from the USA Santocildes units, from Astorga; the USAC Cabo Noval, from Asturias; and the Transmission Battalion III/21, from Burgos, in addition to the Parga team.
In this regard, the subdelegate highlighted the high level of specialization of the guides, who dedicate a large number of hours of training, to achieve a close relationship, essential in the daily work of the Spanish Army. He also stressed that, currently, canine units play a very important role in the fight against organized crime, the search for and location of people in natural disasters or in relation to forced disappearances.
This type of activity allows children to be shown a part of the work carried out by the Spanish Army and is carried out as actions of cooperation and promotion of the culture of defense coordinated with its demanding training and preparation program. Specifically, the exhibition held this Friday involved canine agents specialized in drug and narcotics detection operations, explosive recognition, security and combat or basic obedience and obstacle course, among others.
