Redonda, May 4, 2023.- The Government’s Deputy Delegate in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, participated this morning in the delivery of cyberexperts cards granted by the National Police to 267 students from ten schools in Redonda. The subdelegate was accompanied by the Superior Chief of Police of Galicia, Ramón Gómez Nieto, by the provincial commissioner, Juan José Díaz; by the commissioner of Vigo-Redonda, Ramiro José Gómez; and by the mayor of the municipality, Digna Rivas. To obtain this card, students had to successfully complete a training course in the safe use of the internet.
The program, with a duration of five teaching hours, is divided into ten didactic units in which, among other issues, it focuses on aspects such as cyberbullying, identity supplantation, grooming, sexting, technoaddictions, rules to maintain the privacy of users, as well as resources and tips for safe navigation. The subdelegate of the Government congratulated the students for completing this course and recognized the work done by the National Police to train in security in the use of the Internet, emphasizing to the students the importance of knowing not only the advantages, but also the risks involved in the use of these technologies and of communicating to their parents, school or the Police when they detect one of these dangers.
Maica Larriba stressed the importance of receiving this type of training and that minors know how to recognize that certain behaviors that are carried out through the Internet are considered a crime. The subdelegate also stressed to the students the importance of transmitting the knowledge acquired in their family environment, “thus helping parents, grandparents and grandmothers in the use of new technologies.”
