The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, claimed the feminist action of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to “move towards a more egalitarian, inclusive and fair society, and a place free of male violence”. The Government begins this Monday in Galicia the commemoration of March 8, International Women’s Day, with the placement of protest banners in the buildings of the provincial subdelegations of A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra. The posters will remain on display until next Sunday.
The delegate stressed the importance of protecting the rights of women in the labor field, which is carried out by state labor inspectors and inspectors. To publicize this work, the Government Delegation in Galicia organizes this year the conference ‘Actions of the Labour Inspectorate for the sake of Labour Equality’, which will be held in different locations of the four provinces.
In addition, on March 8, the Delegation will welcome the reading of an institutional statement. Similar events will also be held in the other provinces.
"We didn't lower our guard. We will not stop until this society is profoundly egalitarian, inclusive and just, and a place free of male violence," the delegate said. In this regard, José Miñones recalled that Spain is the only country in the EU that incorporated equality between men and women as one of the fundamental pillars on which the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience is based, which shows its deep feminist commitment.
Equal work days.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Government Delegation will promote the holding of four training days on the ‘Actions of the Labour Inspectorate in the Interests of Labour Equality’ that will be taught by professionals from the body of the Labour Inspectorate of each of the four provinces. This activity is aimed at social services and women’s information centres, associations and professional associations.
These days will be about the controls carried out by the Labour Inspectorate on compliance with the legislation on equality in the workplace. In addition, they will also include an approach to the prevention of occupational risks with a gender perspective.
The first will be held this Monday, March 6, at the House of Associations (former Cornes station) in Santiago de Compostela, and will be attended by Mónica González, Labour and Social Security Inspector based in Vigo.
On Friday, March 10, the Government Subdelegation in Pontevedra will offer two sessions, at 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., also led by Inspector Mónica González. On the same day, the Subdelegation in Ourense will host the same training session, in this case led by the inspector Genoveva García.
Finally, the Labor Inspector Olalla Ferreiro will be in charge of the relatory in the Subdelegation of Lugo next Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m.
Control of equality at work
The Labour and Social Security Inspectorate set itself the objective during this year 2023 to tighten the monitoring of compliance with the different measures that came into force in recent years in the field of equality.
This is contemplated in the Strategic Plan of the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate 2021-2023, which establishes, among other issues:
- Intensify the use of the Anti-Fraud Tool in the planning of actions, especially in the areas of pay discrimination, reconciliation of family, personal and work life and discrimination in access to employment.
- Intensify the campaign on the control of plans and measures of equality, as well as that of remunerative discrimination, paying special attention to the new obligations on this matter, including the remunerative registration that all companies, regardless of their size, are obliged to maintain.
- Intensify actions on sexual harassment and sexual harassment, paying special attention to the planning carried out to prevent and eradicate these situations.
