The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, supervised on Thursday the improvement work that the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge carries out on the beach of O Portelo, in the City of Burela. Isabel Rodríguez highlighted this action that will create a new access for people with reduced mobility at the main entrance of the sandy area, which does not currently dispose of it. “We achieved an entrance without architectural barriers and accessible, offering the bather a comfortable, safe and feasible stay so that people with reduced mobility can fully enjoy a great day at the beach,” said the deputy delegate.
Isabel Rodríguez, accompanied by the mayor of Burela, Alfredo Llano, and the head of the Provincial Direction of Costas, José Miguel Estevan, verified the state of the works consisting of the demolition of a part of the steps of the access to the beach and the endowment of a new road, with granite finish, and a stainless steel railing, everything is adapted to the current regulations. In addition, the project includes the implementation of a small viewpoint and a living area for users. These actions have a government investment of 20,000 euros.
In this regard, the subdelegate explained that it is a work in great demand by the neighborhood, framed in the constant work that is being done by the Government of Spain for the improvement and care of the coast of the Lucense Navy.
“This initiative means that the beach of O Portelo, the sandy beach most used by neighbors and tourists in Burela, if it opens to everyone and is more inclusive,” said the subdelegate, who said that this new catwalk will be available for use next Holy Week.
