The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, recalled today the recent opening of the deadline to request the aid that will allow the Galician fleet and that of the rest of the State to compensate the increase in production costs due to the increase in the price of fuels as a result of the war in Ukraine.
As he explained, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), last week opened the deadline for the submission of applications for this aid, which can be accessed by companies and shipowners of ships and traps until March 12 and to which the Government allocates 120 million euros.
In this regard, José Miñones highlighted the “enormous effort of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez to mitigate the impact that the war conflict in Ukraine is having on the production costs of companies that depend on fossil fuels for their activity”. Along the same lines, he pointed out that “acting in these sectors we also help families, because the objective of the aid and also reduce the impact on the final prices of the products in the purchases”.
Support management
The government delegate in Galicia explained that this aid will be managed directly by the most representative associations in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. To this end, the Official State Gazette (BOE) recently published the agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and these entities that governs the management and payment of aid.
Among the organizations that signed the aforementioned agreement are several Galicians, such as the Organization of Guardeses Longliners (Orpagu); the Organization of Producers of Freezing Vessels of Merlucidae, Cephalopods and Various Species (OPPC3); the Organization of Producers of Fresh Fishing of Port of Vigo; the Organization of Producers of Fishing Port and Marín, the Association of Shipowners of Palangre of Ribeira and Aguiño; the Organization of Producers of Mussels of Galicia (OPLUGO). Along with them, about twenty local entities and associations at the state level complete the list.
Among the tasks of these associations are to draw up a list of applicants who meet the requirements to be beneficiaries together with the amounts of aid that correspond to them, check the documentation and subsequently justify the payment of the aid to the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture. In return for this collaboration, each entity will receive 1% of the distributed funds, a compensation for which the Government reserves a maximum of 495,049.50 euros.
