The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, conveyed today in Lugo the unequivocal commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez for the reform and consolidation of Vocational Training, through legislative reforms and historical budgets and with the impetus of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan: “When we talk about Vocational Training, we talk about an opportunity for young people to receive quality training that opens the door to stable and qualified jobs,” he said. José Miñones claimed this goal of the legislature in a visit to the Integrated Vocational Training Center “As Mercedes”, in Lugo, where he congratulated the educational community for its recent incorporation into the State Network of Professional Training Excellence.
The delegate of the Government in Galicia, together with the mayor of Lugo, Lara Méndez, and the subdelegate of the Government in the province, Isabel Rodríguez, learned about the educational initiatives and programs developed by this center with the support of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training. He also recognized the work of director, claustro and students, which made this Lucense center a state reference in strategic sectors such as aeronautics, clean energies and new technologies.
Face of a new Vocational Training
José Miñones reviewed the main lines of action of the Government to consolidate a Vocational Training adapted to the demands of the economy and the labour market, which demands qualification and competence. This modernization is possible with the combination of legislative reforms, such as the new Vocational Training Act, and with the unprecedented budgetary effort of this legislature. “This year alone, we will allocate 2,401 million euros to Vocational Training in Spain,” explained the delegate.
These lines are joined by the strategic investments of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which has a specific component, “Strategic Plan to Promote Vocational Training” with a total budget of 2 billion euros.
Vocational Training Excellence Network
Precisely, the State Network of Professional Training Excellence, of which the CIPF As Mercedes is part, is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. This network forms a group of reference centers, “with the best technical and infrastructure endowment, which serves to design, experiment and contrast not only training programs, but also knowledge transfer actions in the field of vocational training,” explained the delegate.
The Ministry of Education selected in November last year and through a competitive call the first 44 centers that make up the network. In this resolution, three Galician centers: the CIFP Carlos Oroza de Pontevedra, the CIFP As Mercedes and the CIFP Ánxel Casal de A Coruña, achieving the best scores of the entire Spanish territory. Specifically, in aeronautics, the CIFP As Mercedes obtained the highest score and was second in the overall score of all centers.
With this selection, the Ministry of Education and FP awarded 2.3 million euros to the three Galician centers, of which 795,000 are destined to the CIFP As Mercedes. With this budget, the center will be able to reinforce its commitment to educational innovation applied to the aeronautical field.
Calls for educational innovation
The government delegate supervised the development of other educational innovation projects in which CIFP As Mercedes participates and which is also funded by the Ministry of Education and FP, through the annual calls for “Applied Innovation and Research Projects and Knowledge Transfer in Vocational Training”.
In this case, the CIPF participates in three programs, in collaboration with centers in other autonomous communities and that are dedicated to issues related to renewable energies. Through these calls, the Ministry contributed about 150,000 euros to the CIFP As Mercedes to finance its participation in these programs.
