The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has attended together with the mayor of Catarroja, Lorena Silvent, the reopening of the bicycle workshop Cycles Vicent, which was destroyed by the dana of October 29. In this act, Bernabé highlighted “the commitment of the population of Catarroja, its city council and the Government of Spain to return to normality in this municipality after some of the worst tragedies we have faced”.
“Today we are not only celebrating the reopening of a workshop. Today we celebrate the return of a dream, the beat of a story that has not resigned itself to being forgotten,” said the delegate. The 82-year-old owner has been arranging bicycles since the 1950s.
The Government of Spain, said the delegate, “we are going to continue working so that no one has to give up their life project because of a dana.” In Catarroja, as he recalled, 216.2 million euros have been allocated, of which 138 million euros are to finance 100% of the repair and reconstruction of infrastructure, equipment or facilities and services of municipal ownership, covering 100% of the cost of schools, social centers, sports facilities or water networks. Added to this are direct aid, tax improvements and guarantee lines for the self-employed and SMEs, “which are allowing small businesses to lift the shutter and continue to give life and future to Catarroja”, concluded Bernabé.
