The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the mayor of Quart de Poblet, Cristina Mora, has visited the emergency works being carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility for the reconstruction of the bridges over the ravine of the Gallego del Poyo.
The delegate recalled that “the extraordinary increase of the flow of the Galician Ravine of the Poyo on October 29 caused the collapse of the passage structures of the Mediterranean Highway E-15/A-7 on this channel, at the height of the p.k. 336+850, in the municipality of Quart de Poblet”. From that moment on, the two carriageways of the bypass by-pass of the metropolitan area of València have been left out of service.
Bernabé explained that the affected section of the A-7 motorway, with two three-lane roads per direction, has an average daily intensity (MDI) of 80,000 vehicles/day that cannot absorb the network of autonomous and local roads, also affected by the dana. For this reason and to avoid traffic congestion, the necessary works for the reconstruction of the new structures on the Galician Ravine of the Poyo have been undertaken urgently and immediately.
The new work “will be more resilient to any avenue. The bridge, which had 50 meters, will be extended to 90 meters, which is twice the capacity of the Galician ravine in the Poyo so that it can withstand a large water avenue like the one of October 29,” said the delegate.
Therefore, he added, “the course will be expanded.” It is a work that has a cost of 12 million euros and that “will be finished in the last quarter of this same year and that will again allow the perfect and correct transit of this A7, where the roads are going to double”. In short, he said, “this is another example of the great country that is Spain and of the capacity of the Government of Spain to react and respond to any situation as we have also seen in this massive blackout that we suffered two days ago in our country.”
Duplication of the N-220 to Valencia Airport
The government delegate has also referred to “another very important work” for road traffic such as the duplication of the N-220 to Valencia Airport. At this point, he regretted that these works “have been waiting six months for a report from the Ministry of Industry” and added that “in the Generalitat there are failed consellerias that do not have the capacity to respond in time and form to the very important needs of the Valencian Community”. Bernabé recalled that this work, which has a budget of 100 million euros, affects the area of influence of the industrial estates of Riba-roja and Fuente del Jarro and compromises the circulation of the A3 and the V30.
