The General Directorate of Traffic foresees a total of 701,720 long-distance journeys in the area of influence of the Valencian Community. It is 10.6% of the national total, which is expected during the special operation Constitution-Immaculate 2024. The Valencian Community is the recipient of much of the tourist traffic that comes from Madrid and the provinces around the center of the peninsula.
In this special traffic operation, traffic regulation, management and surveillance measures will begin on Thursday, 5 December, at 4 p.m. and end at midnight on Sunday, 8 December. During this period, an important movement of vehicles will take place throughout the Spanish road network, with long and short journeys, which will significantly affect the roads whose destination are mountain areas for winter sports, tourist rest areas and second residence areas.
The government delegate to the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has called on drivers to “take extreme precautions and respect the traffic regulations”. Bernabé recalled that it is “essential to avoid distractions, not to use the mobile phone, to wear a safety belt and properly anchor minors in their child restraint systems. In addition, it is vital to respect the speed set on the road and adapt it to the conditions of the road and, of course, not to get behind the wheel if alcohol or other drugs have been ingested.”
