Unemployment is reduced by 4,370 people in Castilla y León during the month of June
The number of members of Social Security rises by 6,677 and stands at 962,241
July 4, 2023.- The number of people registered in the offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) of Castilla y León, at the end of June has dropped by 4,370 people (-3.93%), compared to the previous month.
The registered unemployment has reached a total of 106,685 people. In the last 12 months the reduction has been of more than 10,000 people (- 10,973 people, -9.33%).
This decline, which is widespread in all provinces, affects virtually all sectors and all age groups, both men and women.
As for the number of members of the Social Security for Castilla y León in June 2023, it experienced an increase of 0.7% compared to the previous month, bringing the total to 962,241 (6,677 more than the previous month) and an increase of 1.65% compared to June 2022 (15,583 more than that month).
In the whole of Spain and since June 2020, three years ago, more than one million people have abandoned the unemployment lists (-1,174,041). Thus, unemployment has fallen by 30.4%, a situation that has occurred despite the economic uncertainty generated by the war on European soil.
Unemployment by sector
The unemployment recorded in June shows a generalized decline in all sectors with the specific exception of the group Sin Empleo Anterior, which records just 97 more people (0.86%).
With respect to May, the sector that shows a more significant decrease is that of Services with 3,584 fewer people (-4.55%) in unemployment, in Industry with 412 fewer people (-4.58%) and Construction 265 fewer people (-3.84%). To this is added the Agriculture sector, where there are 206 fewer people (-4.03%).
Unemployment by sex and age
In Spain and during the month of June, a new historical minimum has been registered in relation to girls and young people under 25 years of age enrolled in the SEPE, which has been reduced to 184,491 people. This figure is almost half of that recorded in February 2021.
In the case of Castilla y León, unemployment among young people under 25 years of age fell in June by 178 people (-2.25%), compared to the previous month.
Likewise, the decrease among women is also significant, with 2,835 fewer unemployed in June. This is a drop of 4.23% compared to the month of May. The total number of stops remains at 64,146 people.
For its part, male unemployment remains at 42,539, falling by 1,535 men (-3.48%) in relation to the month of May.
Unemployment by province
The 9 provinces of Castilla y León have recorded decreases in their unemployment data. In absolute terms, the descents of Valladolid (811 people less), León (774 people less) and Burgos (592 people less) stand out.
In percentage terms, however, the most notable declines were recorded in Soria (-6.99%), Zamora (-5.29%) and Palencia (-4.40%).
Hiring
In a month prone to seasonality, indefinite contracting is consolidated: during the month of June, 23,157 indefinite contracts have been signed, 33.59% of the total.
During the month of June, a total of 68,943 contracts were signed in Castilla y León.
Meanwhile, in Spain as a whole and so far this year, 7,662,826 contracts have been signed, which means almost two million contracts less (-1,909,080, -19.94%) than during the first half of 2022.
Benefits in the month of May
The coverage of the unemployment protection system during the month of May 2023 in Castilla y León was 62.01%. The total expenditure on benefits amounted to 70.46 million euros.
In Spain, the average monthly expenditure per beneficiary, not including the agricultural subsidy of Andalusia and Extremadura, in the month of May was € 1,064.2, which represents an increase of € 90.7 compared to the same month of the previous year.
