· The government delegate in Cantabria has participated in the presentation of the X National Industrial Engineering Awards and has awarded the ‘Innovative Company 2025’ award to CAF
The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, stressed that industrial engineering in Spain is recognized in the world for its “quality, excellence and innovation” and its capacity for “permanent transformation”.
He said this on Thursday at the presentation of the X National Awards for Industrial Engineering, which was held at the Magdalena Palace. These awards are granted by the Council of Industrial Engineers of Spain, chaired by César Franco.
Casares congratulated the Spanish industrial engineers because “in this 2025 it will be 175 years of history” of this specialty in Spain and has praised that these awards value “the talent that there is in our country”.
The government delegate has awarded the recognition as ‘Innovative Company 2025’ to Constructions and Railway Auxiliary (CAF), with more than a century of trajectory and more than 16,000 employees.
Casares pointed out that, precisely, CAF is a company “very requested in these months in Cantabria” for “being in charge of manufacturing our next trains for the network of Neighbourhoods”.
“The data show that we are in the best hands to build these trains in Cerca, which in 2026 we will begin to see circulate in Cantabria,” added the representative of the State in the community.
He has insisted that CAF is a “pioneer and reference company not only in Spain, but in the world”. With sales of 4,212 million euros in 2024, the company manufactures the 40 high-speed trains for the National Railway Office of Morocco that will enter into service before the celebration of the 2030 Football World Cup.
“Today Spain is synonymous with the vanguard in the construction and manufacture of trains around the world thanks to companies such as CAF”, said the delegate, who stressed that industrial engineering is “pure State policy” and “country commitment”.
In the 10th National Industrial Engineering Awards, José Antonio Garrido was awarded the ‘Professional Trajectory 2025’ award; the ‘Solidarity Project 2025’ award to the Official College of Industrial Engineers of the Valencian Community; the ‘Engineering Project 2025’ award to
Grupo Avintia (Ávita Factory); the ‘Innovative Company 2025’ at HP; and a special mention to Industrial Engineering Schools in recognition of 175 years of professional training.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Industry, Employment, Innovation and Trade, Eduardo Arasti; the Mayor of Santander, Gema Igualo, and the Dean of the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Cantabria, Fernando Rodríguez.
