The Government Delegation in Asturias celebrates this Sunday, November 30, from 11 a.m., a cultural activity within the institutional initiative ‘Spain in freedom. 50 years’, intended to commemorate half a century of democracy and to highlight the social and cultural evolution of the country since the Transition.
The meeting, which will take place in La Benéfica (Piloña), will be a talk-colloquium inspired by the popular format of ‘Radio Barullu’, directed by Aitana Castaño, which will impress upon the act its characteristic aesthetic and its ironic and popular gaze on the Asturian identity.
The Government delegate in Asturias, Adriana Lastra, and the President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, will participate in this activity that will bring together outstanding figures of Asturian culture, such as the musicians Rodrigo Cuevas, Marisa Valle Rosas and Beatriz Rodríguez of the Beatriz Group, the writer Ana Lamela, the actor Manu Lobo and the historian Pilar Sánchez Vicente.
Throughout the morning, La Benéfica will transform into a sound and scenic journey for every decade, from the seventies to the present. Each episode will recreate the cultural atmosphere of its time through pieces of radio fiction, conversations, music, local voices and aesthetic nods typical of each historical moment.
The event will be attended by the students of the Piloña Institute with the aim of connecting the story of the Transition and democratic consolidation with the popular culture, humor and identity expressions of Asturias.
With this initiative, the Government Delegation in Asturias once again joins the national programme of activities of “Spain 50 years in freedom”, which seeks to bring citizens closer to democratic memory and strengthen the link between culture, freedom and social participation.
