- 68.22% of potential Basque beneficiaries of the Young Cultural Bonus will now have a prepaid card with 400 euros to consume, for one year, physical products, digital products and performing arts
- Denis Itxaso appreciates the broad response of the young people, who “will be able to celebrate their majority with more culture”
A total of 14,817 young Basque people who reach their majority in 2023 have subscribed to the Young Cultural Bonus offered by the Government to invest in culture over the next 12 months. This is 68.22% of the total, three percentage points more than the Spanish average.
These data improve last year’s participation, with a thousand more young beneficiaries and a higher percentage (13,943 participants, 64.77% of the total). By province, in Álava 2,247 young people requested the voucher, 68.99% of the total possible; 7,125 in Bizkaia (65.19% of the possible ones) and 4,621 in Gipuzkoa (62.53% of the possible ones). All applicants will now have a prepaid card with 400 euros to consume, for one year, physical products, digital products and performing arts.
For the government delegate in the Basque Country, Denis Itxaso, the success of this second edition of the Young Cultural Bonus shows that “it is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture that has come to stay and will have a long life”. Itxaso highlights the data of the Basque Country, “three points above the whole of Spain”.
For the government delegate, the fact that young Basques can acquire this bonus means that “a habit of celebrating the age of majority with more culture can be consolidated. It is to be hoped that the Basque youth, in addition to being able to have good times, will acquire through culture greater awareness, greater capacity for reflection, more critical capacity and debate.”
