The National Police has arrested a man in Bilbao as an alleged perpetrator of a crime of corruption of minors for possessing more than 1,500 videos with paedophile content and sharing that child pornography through the Internet.
The investigations began when Group I of Protection of Minors, of the Cybercrime Unit of Madrid, detected that videos of a paedophile nature were being downloaded and shared from a home in Bilbao. The research carried out by analyzing the information provided by the internet service provider, allowed agents to geolocate the home and identify the owner of the service.
After bringing these findings to the attention of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade of Bilbao, a 'traditional investigation', consisting of surveillance and follow-ups, was activated, which concluded with the confirmation of the user's identity of the IP address from which the downloads were made.
For all these reasons, on September 26, and with prior judicial authorization, an entry and registration was made in this home, located in the capital of Biscay. During the investigation, the investigators proceeded with the arrest of the suspect, a 47-year-old man, and the on-site analysis and intervention of two mobile phones from which he downloaded and shared the videos.
Finally, thanks to the rapid international collaboration between the National Police and the police agencies of the countries where these paedophile files were located, it was possible to prevent them from being disseminated around the world.
