- The respondent offered to regularize their situation in exchange for payment of amounts ranging from 500 to 5,000 euros
- It has been possible to locate seven victims, five from Morocco and two from Central America
The National Police has arrested a man in San Sebastian as responsible for alleged crimes of fraud and against the rights of workers.
The operation began when the investigators of the Unit against Immigration and Documentary Falsehood Networks (UCRIF) learned that an entrepreneur was offering to regularize the situation to foreign citizens through employment contracts in exchange for substantial economic amounts.
The inquiries made it possible to know that the amounts he asked his victims ranged from 500 to 5,000 euros and that the contracts he made in writing with them never had any effect, since they were not communicated to the Social Security and therefore could not be presented in the Government Subdelegation in order to legalize his residence.
In this regard, the agents managed to locate seven victims, five from Morocco and two from Central America, who had been scammed by this individual and who, lacking financial resources, had to go into debt to face these payments, which placed them in a serious situation of vulnerability. In addition, three of them also claimed to have worked reforming houses for this man for several months.
The investigation also revealed that the suspect was a man of Moroccan origin with five companies dedicated to building renovations, one based in Gipuzkoa and four in Catalonia.
For all these reasons, on 6 February, he was arrested and brought before the courts. Being currently at liberty awaiting trial.
