The Government delegate in Navarre, Alicia Echeverría, has today taken stock of the European funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) allocated to the Foral Community until March 31. The total figure amounts to 1,393 million euros, of which 722 come from calls and tenders of the General Administration of the State and the rest, 621 million, are the funds allocated at sectoral conferences and managed by the Government of Navarre.
According to the latest update, the number of companies, universities, research centres or private individuals benefiting from the Plan is 14,072. 55.8 percent are microenterprises and SMEs, while 18.1 percent are foundations and other entities of this type, and 17.6 percent are large enterprises. In this sense, Echeverría has highlighted the “enormous capillary” of European funds.
As for the destination of the allocated items, 31.3 percent have been dedicated to the development of sustainable infrastructures; 24 percent to the modernization of the industrial fabric; 13.3 percent are directed to the urban and rural agenda; and 11 percent of the allocated funds have been allocated to science and health.
As the government delegate explained, the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan “is having an undeniable modernizing impulse for Navarre and is fulfilling the objectives with which it was initially conceived, which are to move towards a country, towards a community, more sustainable, more digital, more egalitarian and more socially and territorially cohesive.”
The impact of PERTE
Alicia Echeverría referred in her speech to the European funds managed by the General Administration of the State in Navarre and, in particular, to the initiatives linked to the Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE).
Regarding the PERTE VEC, of the Electric and Connected Vehicle, Navarra has allocated funds worth 111.4 million euros. Noteworthy are the 58.2 million earmarked for integrated actions in the electric vehicle industrial chain, or the 14.3 million for two battery development projects.
The PERTE ERHA, of Renewable Energies, Renewable Hydrogen and Storage, has investments in the Foral Community worth 83.2 million euros. There are energy storage projects; the development of biogas with 4.5 million euros; the energy communities that have received 4.3 million; the development of renewable hydrogen with pioneering projects such as the Valle H2V Navarra; or the circular reempowerment, with 19.9 million.
Within the framework of PERTE DE SALUD DE VANGUARDIA, investments amount to 55.4 million euros, with funds for the digital transformation of Primary Care; the Personalized Digital Care Plan; the implementation of the portfolio of genomic services; or the improvement of health care for patients with rare diseases, neuromotor disorders and ALS.
The PERTE DE ECONOMÍA SOCIAL has investments amounting to 36.3 million euros, of which 7.2 are allocated to the purchase of equipment adapted to the new care model. There are also provisions for home furnishings, for the Social Services Modernization Plan and for the Accessibility Program.
Within the PERTE AGRO, the funds amount to 24.5 million euros. This includes investments in the framework of the Spain Food Valley project, as well as business initiatives aimed at the industrial strengthening of the agri-food sector.
As for the WATER LOSS, the Government of Spain has allocated Navarre 24.2 million euros through two lines of action: the digitalization of the urban water cycle and the digitalization of irrigation communities. It includes significant projects such as Agua Digital Navarra, which includes actions in all municipalities of the Foral Community.
For its part, the PERTE AEROSPACE leaves to date 9.9 million euros in Navarre. Noteworthy are the 4.3 million distributed among nine projects within the Aeronautical Technology Program; or the 2.8 million allocated to eight initiatives within the framework of the Innovative Business Groups.
Finally, PERTE DE ECONOMÍA CIRCULAR has a million euros allocated by the Government of Spain to two projects: one on non-ferrous waste management and another on the production of liquid biofertilizers from bio-waste.
On the other hand, the delegate of the Government referred to projects and investments that do not fall within the framework of the PERTE, such as the PIREP Program for the rehabilitation of public buildings; the UNICO initiatives for the extension of broadband and 5G deployment throughout the territory; or the Digital Kit and the Consulting Kit for the digitalization of SMEs and self-employed.
Alicia Echeverría has highlighted the collaboration of the Government in Navarre, local entities, institutions and organizations of all kinds “that are taking advantage of the transforming momentum” of European funds and that “are fundamental to the success of the Recovery Plan”.
