The delegate of the Government in Navarre, Alicia Echeverría, and the president of the Caja Navarre Foundation, José Ángel Andrés, signed this morning the protocol of accession of Civican to the network of “Violeta Points”. In this way, both institutions will collaborate in the dissemination of awareness campaigns against male violence, thus contributing to the awareness of the population about the problem of violence against women.
Alicia Echeverría has very positively valued this new adherence to the “Violeta Points” and has advocated “to continue creating synergies between administrations and between public and private organizations of all kinds”. “This is the way,” he said, “this is the way to move towards a more aware and more sensitive society, less tolerant of those who attack and abuse.” Echeverría has pointed out that “we cannot go back” but that “we have to continue moving towards a society free of male violence”.
For his part, José Ángel Andrés pointed out that "Fundación Caja Navarra, with the installation of this Violeta Point, strengthens the personality of CIVICAN". “It is a center prepared to welcome all people, accessible and inclusive,” he added, “and now it completes those characteristics by defining itself as a space committed to the cause against gender violence and, consequently, committed to women and to this challenge of society.”
Through this protocol, Civican staff will offer women victims of violence who require it basic information about the different specialized resources made available to them.
For its part, the Government Delegation will provide the graphic material and will be responsible for the basic training of the staff of the institution in the prevention of violence against women. This training will soon be given by the director of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation, Estrella Lamadrid, and by members of the State Security Forces and Corps competent in this field.
With the signing of the protocol, Civican is integrated into a network of which the Government Delegation, the Public Service of State Employment, the offices of the State Tax Administration Agency, the National Institute of Social Security, the General Treasury of Social Security, pharmacies, the offices and points of the Network of Youth Information Services of the Navarre Youth Institute, the Ombudsman of Navara-Nafarroako or Arartekoa, and the association DYA Navarre are already part. In addition, some municipalities install temporary points during their patron saint’s holidays.
A “Violet Point” is an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality to involve the whole of society in the fight against gender violence and male violence. A sticker identifies these points as safe spaces for victims, where they can receive information and accompaniment if they need it. In turn, it includes a QR code linked to an informative guide.
