The Navarre International Vaccination Center (CVI), located at the headquarters of the Government Delegation, served 7,708 people last year, 30 percent more than in 2023 (when it was 5,957). The number of telephone calls remains stable at around 4,500, while e-mail inquiries have increased (1,350 compared to 565 in 2023). The levels prior to the COVID-19 pandemic have already been exceeded. Thus, in 2019 there were 7,326 people attended in the CVI of the Foral Community.
Last year, 2,300 vaccines were administered, mostly for yellow fever. In addition, a further 10,106 vaccines were recommended and 2,299 malaria prophylaxis was provided. In 2023, 2,123 vaccines were administered and another 8,578 were recommended, as well as 2,009 antimalarial prophylaxis.
As last year, the destination most visited by people who went through the International Vaccination Center was Southeast Asia and, in particular, Thailand, usually for leisure reasons. Secondly, there is South America, with Colombia as the most demanded country followed by Peru and Ecuador, often for family visits. The third most requested destination is the African continent, mainly Kenya and Tanzania for cooperative trips and also for leisure, as well as Nigeria, for family visits.
From the CVI it is recommended that citizens plan sufficiently in advance the vaccines necessary to travel to certain countries. Therefore, they advise to anticipate consultations and appointments whenever possible since, when the summer months arrive, the demand multiplies.
As explained by the International Vaccination Center, the ideal is to request the appointment sufficiently in advance to be able to be attended in consultation at least one month before the trip. Keep in mind that some vaccines take some time to take effect, and sometimes they have to be bought in the pharmacy, so going very close to the trip can prevent an adequate prevention. It is convenient that it is provided on the day of the consultation, either physical vaccination cards, or some prior vaccination report, which can be obtained in the health center of the user or in the app of the Navarro Health Service.
La cita previa para el CVI se solicita de manera telemática, a través de la website of the Ministry of Health. For any questions, you can call the phone 948 979 310.
