The People’s Advocate of Navarre-Nafarroako Arartekoa has joined the network of “Violeta Points” of the Foral Community after the signing, this morning, of the accession protocol by the delegate of the Government, Alicia Echeverría, and the People’s Advocate, Patxi Vera.
In this way, both institutions will collaborate in the dissemination of awareness campaigns against violence against women, thus contributing to the awareness of the population about the problem of violence against women.
In addition, the Navarra Nafarroako Arartekoa Ombudsman will provide women victims of violence who require it with basic information on the various specialized resources made available to them.
For its part, the Government Delegation will provide the graphic material and will be responsible for the basic training of the staff of the institution in the prevention of violence against women. This training will soon be given by the director of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation and by members of the State Security Forces and Corps competent in this field.
With the signing of the protocol, the Ombudsman is integrated into a network of which the Government Delegation, the State Public Employment Service, the offices of the State Tax Administration Agency, the National Institute of Social Security, the General Treasury of Social Security, pharmacies, offices and points of the Network of Youth Information Services of the Navarre Youth Institute, and the association DYA Navarra are already part of the Foral Community. In addition, some municipalities install temporary points during their patron saint’s holidays.
A “Violet Point” is an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality to involve the whole of society in the fight against gender violence and male violence. A sticker identifies these points as safe spaces for victims, where they can receive information and accompaniment if they need it. In turn, it includes a QR code linked to an informative guide.

After the signing of the agreement, the Government delegate in Navarre, Alicia Echeverría, assessed this new accession to the Violeta Points network in a very positive way. “There are more and more safe spaces for victims of male violence and we have a population that is more aware, more informed and better prepared to care for women who suffer any type of violence,” said Echeverría, who thanked the Ombudsman of Navarra Nafarroako Arartekoa for his commitment and encouraged other entities and institutions of all kinds to join this network.
For his part, Patxi Vera, the Ombudsman of Navarra, Nafarroako Arartekoa, said that “the Ombudsman is an institution focused on the defense of human rights and close to the citizens, so it can play an important role in informing and guiding victims of gender violence who request their help, due to citizen consultations or complaints. It is everyone's responsibility to involve the whole of society in the fight to eradicate male violence against women."
