The increase in the Interprofessional Minimum Wage, approved today by the Council of Ministers, benefits 22,000 people in Navarre, which represents 8.1 percent of the salaried workers of the Foral Community. The SMI stands, with the increase approved this morning, at 1,184 euros per month in 14 payments. It therefore represents a perception of 700 euros per year more than that established in the previous amount. The ascent is made retroactively on 1 January.
The increase, proposed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, is the result of the agreement with the majority trade union organizations, CCOO and UGT, after having addressed it in the specific Social Dialogue Table. It takes as a reference the highest proposal included in the report of the Advisory Commission for the Analysis of the SMI.
In the country as a whole, some 2.4 million working people benefit directly from the increase in the amount. Of that total, 65.8 percent are women. In addition, 26.8 percent of recipients are young people, between the ages of 16 and 24.
By sector, 31 percent of the beneficiaries belong to the agricultural sector; 14.3 percent to Services; 5.9 percent to Industry; and 3.4 percent to Construction.
From 2018 to 2024 there was a gross increase of 398.1 euros, that is, an increase of 54.1 percent. From 2018 to 2025, incorporating the current rise, the SMI has experienced an increase of 61 percent, while inflation has risen by 23 percent. The minimum wage in our country has therefore gained 38 percent of purchasing power.
