The Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Navarre joins the commemoration of the World Day in Remembrance of the Victims of Traffic Accidents that, for 29 years, has been held on the third Sunday of November in accordance with a Resolution of the General Assembly of the UN. On this occasion, a rally was held at the gates of the Headquarters, attended by, among others, the Government delegate in Navarre, Alicia Echeverría, the provincial deputy head of Traffic, Silvia Irañeta, as well as representatives of the Government of Navarre, Judicature, Civil Guard, Foral Police, local police and associations of traffic victims.
This year’s motto is “Remember, Support, Act” and the goal in 2024 is to put the accent on what changes when a traffic accident occurs, on the stories of “that day” that changed or stopped the lives of the victims forever. It reminds us that each victim has his or her own story, which is what his or her family, friends or acquaintances carry and will carry in their memory. This World Day commemorates that the emotional burden linked to accidents is so strong that it is marked in the memory of those who suffer them forever.
It is also about providing a platform for traffic victims and their families to remember those who died and were injured on the roads; recognizing the work of emergency services; drawing attention to the legal response to deaths and injuries in accidents; advocating for better support for traffic victims and their families; and promoting actions to prevent and reduce accidents.
