The Government Delegation in Navarre has become “Violet Point” once the corresponding training has been given to services with attention to citizenship, such as the Registry office, the High Inspection of Education and the International Vaccination Center. The Aliens Office will also be joining in the near future.
In this way, the Government Delegation joins the offices of the State Public Employment Service, pharmacies, gas stations and the offices and points of the Network of Youth Information Services, which are already part of the network of “Violeta Points” of the Foral Community. In addition, some municipalities install points during their patron saint’s parties.
The director of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, Estrella Lamadrid, the chief inspector of the Pamplona Family and Minors Unit of the National Police, Jesús González, and the deputy chief of the Woman-Minor Team of the Civil Guard in Navarre, Óscar Silva, have been responsible for providing training to the staff of the Government Delegation. It is a training that includes issues such as the types of violence against women, indicators of gender violence or the tools of the “Violeta Points”. The objective is that those responsible for these points provide, upon request, information on the different specialized resources available to victims of violence against women and on how to access these resources.
A “Violet Point” is an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality to involve the whole of society in the fight against gender violence and male violence. A sticker identifies these points as a safe space for victims, where they can receive information and accompaniment if they need it. In turn, it includes a QR code linked to an informative guide.
This initiative is part of the Catalogue of Urgent Measures of the Improvement and Modernization Plan, promoted by different ministries of the Government of Spain, and represents a change of focus in public policies of care for victims, taking decisive steps to make visible the different violence against women and the involvement of society as a whole in their denunciation and eradication.
