Between January and March of this year, the police forces operating in Navarre recorded 8,421 criminal offences, 4.4% more than in the same period of 2023. In this way, the crime rate of the last twelve months is located in the Foral Community at 52.8 criminal offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, 1.1 points above the national average.
They are data of Balance of Criminality published today by the Ministry of the Interior and which reflects the evolution of crime in Spain recorded in the first quarter of the year by the State Security Corps (National Police and Civil Guard), the Security Corps dependent on the Autonomous Communities (Ertzaintza, Mossos d'Esquadra and Foral Police of Navarra), and also by those Local Police Corps that provide data to the State Security Forces and Corps.
Between January and March, drug trafficking crimes increased by 42.9% (from 35 to 50) and crimes against sexual freedom increased by 7% (from 86 to 92). In this chapter, however, sexual assaults with known penetration decreased by 47.4% (from 19 to 10), while the rest of crimes against sexual freedom increased by 22.4% (from 67 to 82).
Serious and less serious crimes of injury and tumultuous squabbling also grew by 12.5% (from 80 to 90) and the rest of conventional crime by 16.3% (from 3,735 offenses to 4,342).
Despite the increase in conventional crime as a whole by 7.6% (from 6,182 offenses to 6,649), other known crimes are falling.
Thus, the number of wilful homicides and attempted murders fell by 40% (from 5 to 3) and the chapter of vehicle subtractions fell by 20% (from 40 to 32). Burglary in homes, establishments and other facilities fell by 11.8% (from 415 to 366), and burglary in homes (from 268 to 232) by 13.4%. Robberies with violence and intimidation also fell by 9.2% (from 98 to 89). On the other hand, thefts fall by 6% (from 1,687 to 1,585).
In the first quarter of the year, no malicious homicides or consummate murders have been recorded (there were 1 in the same period of 2023). And there have also been no kidnappings (unchanged from the first quarter of last year).
As for cybercrime, it fell by 5.9% with a total of 1,772 known offenses, compared to 1,883 in the same period of 2023. Computer scams fell by 7.1% (from 1,672 to 1,553), while other types of cybercrime rose by 3.8% (from 211 to 219).
Finally, the rate of arrests and investigations over the past year was 172 for every 1,000 criminal offenses. And the percentage of clarified criminal offenses was 34.1%.
Breakdown by municipality
The Crime Balance shows the breakdown of municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants:
- In the Egüés/Eguesibar Valley, the number of criminal offences increases by 5.3% (from 187 to 197). The crime rate is 33.3 criminal offences per 1,000 inhabitants.
- In Pamplona/Iruña, criminal offences increased slightly by 1.5% (from 3,354 to 3,405). The crime rate is 75.1.
- In Tudela, the increase was 10.9% (from 599 to 664 criminal offences). The crime rate is 69.5.
- In Burlada/Burlata, the number of criminal offences increased by 26.6% from 143 to 181, with a crime rate of 33.9 offences per 1,000 inhabitants
