The nine public service offices that the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) has in Navarre, as well as the headquarters of the provincial direction of the agency, have joined the network of “Violeta Points” of the Foral Community. A network that, in Navarre, up to now integrates pharmacies, gas stations and offices and points of the Network of Youth Information Services. In addition, some municipalities install temporary violet points during their patron saint’s holidays.
The delegate of the Government in Navarra, Alicia Echeverría, has visited one of the points, the one located in the office of the Public Service of State Employment in the Integral Agency of Employment and Training Iturrondo. She was accompanied by Luis García, provincial director of SEPE in Navarre, and Estrella Lamadrid, director of the Unit for Coordination against Violence against Women. Echeverría has highlighted the importance of these points to bring to society the resources and services to which victims of male violence can turn.
Training has already been provided to SEPE office staff so that they can provide, upon request, basic information on the various specialized resources available to victims of violence against women.
A Violet Point is an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality to involve the whole society in the fight against gender violence and male violence, establishing a safe place for victims, whether a physical or virtual space, where they will be cared for, supported and accompanied.
In a Violeta Point, information is provided on the services of care and assistance to the victims of male violence in any of its manifestations.
This initiative is part of the Catalogue of Urgent Measures of the Improvement and Modernization Plan, promoted by different ministries of the Government of Spain, and represents a change of focus in public policies to care for the victims of different violence against women, taking decisive steps to make visible and involve the whole of society.
Objectives
The goal of the “Violeta Points” is threefold. On the one hand, to involve all citizens in the fight against violence against women. On the other hand, to bring comprehensive services closer to the victims, through their environment. Finally, to provide information on how to respond to a case of violence against women to establishments, entities, companies and public agencies.
For all this, they have the following tools, which allow to give a comprehensive attention in the public space:
1. Violeta Point Guide to Dealing with Male Violence: With information on how to deal with a case of violence against women, as well as resources for the victims themselves.
2. Materials for establishments, entities, companies, public bodies: posters and stickers with a QR code linked to the Violeta Point Guide, which aim to point out that this space is a safe place for victims, where they can receive information and accompaniment if they need it.
3. Badges to identify the people, establishments and organizations involved in the fight against violence against women: anyone who uses it will represent “a gateway” for women victims to the resources they may need.
