The police forces operating in Navarre recorded 35,090 criminal offences last year, 5% more than in 2022, when it was 33,409. In this way, the crime rate of the last twelve months is located in the Foral Community at 52.2 criminal offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, one point above the national average.
They are data of Balance of Criminality published today by the Ministry of the Interior and which reflects the evolution of crime in Spain registered in the year 2023 by the State Security Corps (National Police and Civil Guard), the Security Corps dependent on the Autonomous Communities (Ertzaintza, Mossos d'Esquadra and Foral Police of Navarra), and also by those Local Police Corps that provide data to the State Security Forces and Corps.
Last year, there was an increase in wilful homicides and consummate murders, from 3 to 6, as well as wilful homicides and attempted murders, from 21 to 32 (52.4%).
In line with recent years, the number of known crimes against sexual freedom has increased, rising by 30.2%, from 321 to 418. With regard to sexual assaults with penetration, this increase is 6.6% (from 76 to 81), and it is higher - 37.6% - in the case of other crimes against sexual freedom (from 245 to 337).
Vehicle subtractions increased by 15.2% (from 132 to 152). The increase is 10.7% in the case of robberies with violence and intimidation (from 422 to 467). Theft also increased by 6.8 per cent (from 8,108 to 8,661) and by 2.8 per cent by burglary in homes, establishments and other facilities (from 1,464 to 1,505).
Drug trafficking crimes are growing by 7.5% (from 147 to 158).
Last year, no kidnappings were recorded, compared to two in 2022. In addition, the serious and less serious crimes of injury and tumultuous squabbling (from 404 to 378) decreased by 6.4%, as did the rest of conventional crime, which decreased by 2.1% (from 16,886 offenses to 16,528).
With regard to cybercrime, there have been a total of 6,785 crimes, which represents an increase of 23.4% compared to 2022 (when there were 5,499). Computer scams increase by 25.9% (from 4,816 to 6,061) and the rest of cybercrimes increase by 6% (from 683 to 724).
Finally, the rate of arrests and investigations over the past year was 156 for every 1,000 criminal offenses. And the percentage of clarified criminal offenses was 32.1%.
Breakdown by municipality
The Crime Balance shows the breakdown of municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants:
- In the Egüés/Eguesibar Valley, the number of criminal offences has increased by 14.7% (from 634 to 727). The crime rate is 32.9 criminal offences per 1,000 inhabitants.
- In Pamplona/Iruña, criminal offences increased by 3.9% (from 14,830 to 15,405). The crime rate is 74.9.
- In Tudela, the increase was 6.5% (from 2,405 to 2,561 criminal offences). The crime rate is 68.
- In Burlada/Burlata, the number of criminal offences fell by 0.4% from 673 to 670, with a crime rate of 32.1 offences per 1,000 inhabitants
