Between January and September, the police forces operating in Navarre recorded a total of 26,318 criminal offences, 3.9% more than those recorded in the same period of 2022, when they were 25,341. In this way, the crime rate of the last twelve months is located in the Foral Community at 51.8 criminal offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, one point above the national average.
They are data of Balance of Criminality published today by the Ministry of the Interior and which reflects the evolution of crime in Spain recorded in the first nine months of 2023 by the State Security Corps (National Police and Civil Guard), the Security Corps dependent on the Autonomous Communities (Ertzaintza, Mossos d'Esquadra and Foral Police of Navarra), and also by those Local Police Corps that provide data to the State Security Forces and Corps.
Between January and September, wilful homicides and attempted murders increased from 18 to 29 (61.1%). In recent years, known crimes against sexual freedom and compensation have increased by 30.5%, from 233 to 304. With regard to sexual assaults with penetration, this increase is 3.4% (from 59 to 61), and it is higher - 39.7% - in the case of other crimes against sexual freedom (from 174 to 243).
Drug trafficking offences increased by 17% (from 106 to 124) and vehicle theft increased by 9.9% (from 101 to 111). The increase is 8.2% in the case of theft (from 6,333 to 6,851).
The number of robberies with violence and intimidation rose by 6.2% (from 339 to 360), while robberies with force in homes, establishments and other facilities increased slightly from 1,082 to 1,104 (2% more).
No kidnappings have been recorded in the first nine months of the year, compared to 2 in the same period of the previous year, and the number of wilful homicides and completed murders remains unchanged (3). In addition, the serious and less serious crimes of injury and tumultuous squabbling (from 300 to 276) are down by 8%.
Regarding cybercrime, there have been a total of 4,897 crimes, which represents an increase of 22.7% compared to the same period of 2022 (when it was 3,990). Computer scams increased by 25.6% (from 3,478 to 4,370) and the rest of cybercrimes increased by 2.9% (from 512 to 527).
Finally, the rate of arrests and investigations between January and September was 157 for every 1,000 criminal offences. And the percentage of clarified criminal offenses was 32.5%.
Breakdown by municipality
The Crime Balance shows the breakdown of municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants:
- In the Egüés/Eguesibar Valley, the number of criminal offences has increased by 19.5% (from 461 to 551). The crime rate is 33.2 criminal offences per 1,000 inhabitants.
- In Pamplona/Iruña, criminal offences increased by 3.1% (from 11,409 to 11,766). The crime rate is 74.7.
- In Tudela, the increase was 5.1% (from 1,797 to 1,888 criminal offences). The crime rate is 67.3.
- In Burlada/Burlata, the number of criminal offences increases by 3.5% from 483 to 500, with a crime rate of 33.8 offences per 1,000 inhabitants.
