The Government of Spain continues to deploy the investments foreseen in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. So far, the General Administration of the State has launched 2,750 actions in Navarre worth 242 million euros. Added to these are the funds managed by the Provincial Government, so that the community has received, until March, 425 million euros from the PRTR through transfers in sectoral conferences, agreements, subsidies and direct concessions agreed between both executives.
This was explained by the government delegate in Navarre, who today took stock of the management of the central executive throughout the legislature. José Luis Arasti has highlighted that during these years there have been “relevant milestones that are improving the lives of the Navarras and the Navarros, who are promoting and modernizing our productive fabric and strengthening our self-government.”
“Two verbs have guided the action of this Government of Spain: advance and protect”, added Arasti, who has highlighted the commitment to the social majority of the country, to the middle and working classes, and also to companies and self-employed workers, while progress is being made in digitalization, equality, social and territorial cohesion, ecological transition and the modernization of the productive fabric.
The milestones of the legislature
The government delegate in Navarre has highlighted the main social milestones of the legislature. Thus, he recalled that in 2020 the creation of the Minimum Vital Income was approved to favor the social and labor inclusion of people in situations of vulnerability. At the moment, there are 18,809 beneficiaries of the IMV in Navarre, of whom 10,565 are adults and the rest, 8,244, minors.
He also highlighted the increase of 47% in the interprofessional minimum wage, which has gone from 735 to 1,080 euros, and which receives around 12,800 navarros and navarras.
Regarding pensions, Arasti pointed out that the average pension has increased in the Foral Community by 283 euros since 2018, 22.6%, from 1,256 to 1,540 euros. The revaluation of pensions has benefited the 142,045 people who receive a contributory pension in Navarre, most of which -97,302 - corresponds to retirement pensions.
Regarding the impact of the labor reform, the government delegate has stressed that the number of indefinite contracts has grown in Navarre by 185% between 2019 and 2022, from 25,602 to 73,173. At the same time, Social Security membership grew by 24,853 people – 9% – in February of this year compared to the same month of 2018.
Arasti has also highlighted the impact of the scholarships of the Ministry of Education and FP. In this course they have reached 10.4 million euros and have reached a total of 5,807 people between university scholarships (2,050) and non-university scholarships (3,757).
He also referred to the young cultural bond that was launched last year and that, in its first edition, has left a total of 4,437 applications granted. So far, 8,617 operations worth almost 320,000 euros have been registered in Navarre.
The government delegate in Navarre recalled some of the measures approved to deal with the crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine. Among them, transport aid, with 4,619 medium-distance bonds issued by RENFE; the social electricity bond, which reaches 19,443 people; or aid to the primary sector worth 3.65 million euros and 341 livestock farmers benefited.
Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan Figures
As a dynamic element of the economy, José Luis Arasti has highlighted the impact of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Navarre has received, until this month, 425 million euros, of which 242 correspond to direct investments from the General Administration of the State.
He has highlighted some of them, such as the 15 million euros for the energy rehabilitation of housing; the 13.8 million euros for the construction of social rental housing; or the 14 million euros for innovation projects in the agri-food sector.
Arasti also highlighted the role of Navarre in the EIT of the Electric and Connected Vehicle, with the participation of six Navarre companies in 18 primary projects of the call for the transformation of the industrial value chain with grants worth 57.5 million euros.
More self-government
The government delegate also highlighted the commitment of the central executive to the self-government of Navarre and to compliance with LORAFNA. And he recalled that three competences were transferred to the Foral Community during the current legislature: traffic and road safety (March 22, 2023), minimum vital income (March 31, 2022) and prison health (June 2, 2021).
